Dr. Lisa MJ Lee is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Lee is an award-winning histology and embryology educator with over a decade of teaching experience in undergraduate, dental, and medication education. Dr. Lee has experience leveraging technologies such as virtual histology laboratories, virtual modeling software, 3D printing, and eye-tracking devices to increase access to exceptional learning tools and advance evidence-based pedagogical practices.  Dr. Lee has created virtual histology laboratory apps, co-established American Association for Anatomy’s Virtual Histology Database, and authored two histology textbooks. She is also an award-winning mentor who has trained numerous graduate students who went on to win prestigious educational research, teaching, service awards, and recognitions, and have gone on to healthcare professions and higher education.

Dr. Amanda Meyer


Dr Meyer is an anatomy educator and researcher who is responsible for teaching gross anatomy, histology and neuroanatomy at The University of Western Australia. In 2021, she was admitted as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Over the past 11 years, she has developed, coordinated and delivered clinically-oriented anatomy content for over 50 visceral, musculoskeletal, neuroanatomy and histology units to over 6,000+ health profession and science students.  She uses approaches to engage students to build a firm foundation of anatomy knowledge. Dr Meyer’s research focuses on student motivation and technology-enhanced learning of anatomy. She has served as a peer reviewer for leading Anatomy journals and higher degree by research theses. She is a twice-elected (2016 to 2018 and 2019 to 2021) and actively involved Council member and now Treasurer (2022 to 2024) of the Australian and New Zealand Association for Clinical Anatomists (ANZACA), the professional body in Australia for clinical anatomy and educational research. She is also an active member of the editorial board of Anatomical Sciences Education. Dr Meyer advocates for open access to resources and the global dissemination of knowledge.

Dr. Jamie Chapman


Dr Jamie Chapman is a Senior Lecturer in Human Anatomy in the Tasmanian School of Medicine at the University of Tasmania, Australia. He has a PhD from the University of Adelaide where he studied marsupial reproductive biology, during which he gained experience in many microscopy techniques, primarily electron and light microscopy. He ran an electron microscopy unit for the Royal Hobart Hospital’s pathology department before becoming the coordinator of histology teaching into Medicine and unit coordinator for a large first year Human Anatomy and Physiology unit. Dr Chapman has over 20 years’ experience teaching histology, and he’s also known on social media as Chapman Histology with his 3-minute histology videos on YouTube, and regular posts on Twitter and Instagram.

Dr. Nathan Swailes


Dr Nathan Swailes, PhD is an Associate of Anatomy and Cell Biology and Professor of Instruction in Anatomy and Histology at The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. He is an award-winning educator with over 20-years of experience in teaching histology, gross anatomy and embryology in medical, dental and allied health curricula in the UK, Australia and the USA. Dr Swailes is an experienced curriculum developer and course designer who uses story-telling, art and technology to enhance teaching and learning in his classroom and in the fully online courses he has created. He is the curator of the Iowa Virtual Slidebox of Histology and Pathology, a freely available resource developed in 2002 that pioneered the movement towards use of virtual microscopy in histology and pathology education. He is perhaps best/least well-known as the face behind the popular histology and science communication blog @ihearthisto
