Dr. Mikaela Stiver


Dr Mikaela Stiver, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Anatomical Sciences, Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at McGill University in Montréal, Québec. She teaches neuroanatomy, gross anatomy, and embryology to students in a variety of undergraduate and professional degree programs. Her current research interests include musculoskeletal structure and function, medical imaging, and innovative teaching approaches—especially gamification and serious games. 

Dr Stiver is a self-taught illustrator. Her impromptu introduction to digital anatomy art was in early 2020 when she purchased an iPad to design custom drawings for online lectures during COVID-19. She has created illustrations for numerous projects, including several peer-reviewed publications, an online repository of Creative Commons-licensed images, and a set of cranial nerve trading cards! In her spare time, she also enjoys bouldering, cycling, solving crosswords, and travelling.
