Histological cross-section of skeletal muscle stained with H&E. The image shows multiple fascicles composed of skeletal muscle fibers. Each fiber is surrounded by endomysium, while fascicles are enclosed by perimysium. The entire muscle is covered by epimysium. Multiple nuclei are visible at the periphery of muscle fibers. Note: shrinkage artifact exaggerates spaces between fibers and fascicles. The image illustrates the connective tissue layers and organization of skeletal muscle.
