Histological section of a seminiferous tubule stained with H&E, showing the organization of cells involved in spermatogenesis. The lumen of the tubule contains mature spermatozoa with flagella projecting inward. Surrounding the lumen are layers of developing germ cells: spermatids closest to the lumen, followed by spermatocytes, and spermatogonia near the basal lamina. Sustentacular (Sertoli) cells extend from the basal layer toward the lumen, supporting the germ cells. The interstitial space between tubules contains interstitial endocrine (Leydig) cells and connective tissue. Peritubular myoid cells form a thin layer around the tubule. The image illustrates the structural arrangement of cells in the seminiferous epithelium and interstitium.
