Histological section of the eye in sagittal view stained with H&E, showing the major anatomical layers and structures. The outer fibrous layer includes the sclera and cornea, while the vascular layer consists of the choroid and ciliary muscles. The innermost neural layer is the retina, continuous with the optic nerve at the posterior pole. The anterior segment displays the cornea, anterior chamber, iris, pupil, and lens, with the posterior chamber located behind the iris. The optic nerve and central retinal artery and vein are visible exiting the globe posteriorly. The image illustrates the organization of the eye wall and internal compartments.
