Histological section of adipose tissue stained with H&E. The image shows large, clear adipocytes arranged in a loose network. Each adipocyte contains a single large fat droplet that occupies most of the cell, pushing the nucleus to the periphery. Each lipid droplet has been removed during processing for microscopy, leaving a large spherical white space. Thin cell membranes outline the adipocytes, and sparse cytoplasm is visible around the edges. Small blood vessels with dark-stained endothelial cells and occasional red blood cells are present between the adipocytes. The overall appearance illustrates the structure of white adipose tissue with its characteristic unilocular fat cells.
