Histological section of the penis stained with H&E, showing a transverse view of its internal structures. The outermost layer consists of epidermis and dermis. Beneath the dermis lies the superficial fascia and deeper connective tissue layers. Two large corpora cavernosa are visible in the dorsal region, surrounded by the dense tunica albuginea and deep fascia. The corpus spongiosum is located ventrally, enclosing the urethra. Blood vessels, including dorsal and deep arteries, as well as superficial and deep dorsal veins, are present in the dorsal aspect. A dorsal nerve is also visible near the vessels. The image illustrates the organization of erectile tissue and associated structures.
